Our history

“The Hanover Diabetes Support Group was established in April of 2010 by Dr. Clive McKenzie. He was concerned about the number of diabetic persons he encounters in his practice daily. More importantly, he was troubled by the ignorance that was displayed by most of his patients suffering from diabetes.”

The Hanover Diabetes Support Group is a non-profit group made up of community members who have diabetes or know someone who has the disease, united by an interest in learning more about diabetes treatment and prevention.

The Secretariat

The group opened its Secretariat so that it could conduct business independently, hold monthly meetings, and store group assets.

Registration and membership

The group is working toward formal registration as a non-profit non-governmental organization and has created identification cards for members, with the hope of offering benefits such as pharmacy discounts.

“The Hanover Diabetes Support Group seeks to raise awareness which we believe is the first step in the fight against this disease. Through our various programs, we’ve increased the awareness of many about the disease, people are more knowledgeable and many have made strides to improve their lifestyles.”
